dremu: AC Chess Club

Hey all. Hope everyone is having a good break.

I just wanted to invite everyone to the first chess club meeting of the semester. Our first meeting is Tuesday, January 22nd (first day of classes). The club is open to all members of the Assumption College community and all skill levels. The club meets weekly and plays intra club matches but also participates in, and hosts, inter-collegiate tournaments.

The first part of the meeting is the "Game of the Week," where we go over a game together to see what went right or wrong. After that, there is free play for the rest of the meeting. Every now and then, we play a variant of chess, called bughouse. What is it? I'm not sure if you can truly explain it, but it is a hell of a time. You'd have to see it to enjoy it.

Again, here is the info about the club:

Meetings

Every Tuesday @ Charlie's in the Hagan Campus Center

5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m. - Game of the week. Each week members are invited to review a previously played game to review openings, endgames, and strategy.

5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. - Play. Attendees play matches against others.

All skill levels are welcome.
